Annie, a Broadway musical, is based on Harold Gray’s comic strip Little Orphan Annie. Annie is a eleven-year-old who lives, with six others girls, in an Orphanage run mercilessly by Miss Hannigan. Annie finally escapes the orphanage, after two failed attempts. Annie is brought back by a policeman after he finds her. However, when Oliver Warbucks offers her a chance to spend time together with him, the situation changes drastically. Warbucks promises a reward for Annie to find her long-lost father and mother if they show up at his office to prove their identities. Ralph Mudge and Shirley Mudge have arrived at the orphanage. They tell Ms Hannigan that they had left a girl in the orphanage 11 years earlier and are now returning to retrieve her. Ms Hannigan is soon informed that the two are Rooster & Lily. Rooster explains the plan they have to obtain the Warbucks rewards. Rooster & Lily pay Ms Hannigan a third for Annie information. Warbucks declares that Annie should be adopted because Annie’s parent have yet to appear. As they begin to adopt Annie, Mr. Mudge arrives with Mrs. Mudge. Later, they realize they aren’t Annie’s real parents. Instead, it is Rooster Lily. Along with Miss Hannigan they are arrested.

Everyone quickly learns that they aren’t Annie’s true parents. Annie’s sisters, with Ms Hannigan’s help, try to track down Annie by using social media.
