Induction into The National Honor Society confirms my academic goals, which I have worked very hard to achieve. My academic performance would be maintained, and I would also benefit from being able to achieve further school goals. Acceptance into NHS was something I had been striving for since middle school. So, being able to do so is a huge honor. Leadership, character, service and scholarship are the four tenets that make up National Honor Society. These values are what I live by in my day.

Leadership, for me, means being proud of what you’re doing with a group or a team. Leaders must be an example to others and show concern for the cause. It is important to have the right mentality, focus, and confidence to reach your full potential. You must also be willing to show others how you can help them. My life has been filled with situations where my teammates lost hope. I had to raise these issues. My team was losing badly in basketball and my teammates couldn’t bear to see me anymore. I decided to take control of my life and give a boost to my team by motivating them. When I do something that I don’t think will go well, I apply the same mindset and confidence to my daily life. Being a leader means being able to see the situation and having the confidence to achieve your goals. The second tenet of service is the next. I consider service to be helping someone, whether it is a person or family, as well as helping them get to a place where they feel fulfilled and happy. Scholars and Athetes Serving Others, also known as SASO, is my volunteer group. The group does various events, including helping those in need and making people smile. It is so heartwarming to meet children who are willing to volunteer at your event. You can feel good about yourself by volunteering and helping others. Next is character. My view is that character comes from believing in yourself, not being influenced by others. You may be mocked by others for doing something you find odd or bizarre, but it doesn’t matter. To be authentic, you have to be who you are and not allow others to mold your character. My friends may think I am crazy but I don’t let it affect my character. You can follow the crowd sometimes, but it’s OK to not like what others are doing. If that happens, you need to recognize that and make the right decision. Your character will be shaped by your decisions and how you trust yourself. This last principle is called Scholarship. Personally, this tenet is the most important. Scholarship to me means being diligent about your education and keeping up with all your grades. If you are not willing to put in effort, your chances of success in life are lower. Your future success will depend on how focused you are and how hard you work. To be able to apply for great programs like the National Honors Society, I do my best to maintain a high grade average. I’ve always tried to get into a great college so that I won’t have financial problems in the near future. That means I focus on my grades and pay attention to the things that can help me in the long-term. For many people, scholarship is a must-have for a bright future. These words have had a great impact on my life. I have been shaped by them. I am so grateful to this program for helping me get there. To be successful in the future, I will work hard and give my time to as many people as possible.
