Carnegie believed that the only way to sustain society was to make a commitment to wealth acquisition. Because he was an immigrant from Mexico, who had to work very hard to earn his salary, he was able to better understand the lives of the poorer classes. It is clear that Andrew Carnegie was a kind and compassionate man. His ability to share his wealth with the common good, as well as his morals, led me to believe that he was humane. Andrew Carnegie’s desire and ability to help the less fortunate was a result of his early years as a worker in textiles earning just a dollar twenty cents per week. Andrew Carnegie’s education gave him the ability and motivation to realize that people have more to live off than what they earn. Andrew Carnegie’s moral views were based on his understanding and ability to see the needs of others.
